Champignions dans l'enduit!

by Creusebear » Mon 17 Apr 2017 12:29

I have noticed some staining in the cream lime render on the back of the house. Our neighbour tells me it is a fungus and unless treated will result in dark red patches - I have see this on other houses and always wondered what had caused it - so now I know! So, same neighbour has told be to spray the wall with bleach (diluted? I forgot to ask) and then wait a few hours before rinsing it off with water. Does anyone have any experience of this? Does it work or should I be doing something else? Many thanks for any advice!

I've not had this problem or done that myself but I would expect the undiluted bleach to kill the fungus, but it might also bleach the colour from your render especially if you leave it on for so long. I'd be careful to treat only the affected area and also to test that the render is colour-fast.
