Today's Election

If you're curious, you can go to Le Figaro's website and sign up ('recevez les résultats....') to get the election results in your commune, by giving your postal code, then commune name, and your email addy. I'm hoping the French voters are wiser than my compatriots in the USA.....we fly back to France on May 7, of course the day of the runoff.

It's an interesting result. Could Le Pen be France's first female president?

I doubt Le Pen will win, but I was blind-sided by Trump's victory in the USA--Le Pen does have the cunning support of Poutine, and the ongoing terrorist attacks in France seem almost designed to bolster her campaign....
The European press, at least in the summaries I get from this daily feed, seems to be cautiously predicting a Macron victory. My commune, St-Georges-Nigremont, voted for Mélenchon, whose off-with-their-heads rhetoric is consistent with his refusal to support Macron against Le Pen in May....
