Faulty pond pumps

Does anyone know where I could have a pond pump repaired? The pump works for a few seconds then cuts out, we think that there maybe a faulty seal but we can't identify where.

Re: Faulty pond pumps

Mike,

Replacing only the capacitor might be another option. The regular single-phase electric AC motor needs it to start running. Make sure you replace it with the correct value, not only the microFarad indication should be the same (although their real values are mostly between plus 50% and minus 10%, gives some room for other values), but its voltage rating should be at least 250 Volts. Look here for some hands on experience. Or here for some French reading.

Kind regards,

Robert
